Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely example of a WWII Us Army 8th Army Air Forces enlisted Class-A coat that belonged to a Sergeant who served as a Communications Specialist during WWII. By the Second World War, radio had become the chief medium of air-to-ground and air-to-air communication. Since then, transponders have enabled pilots and controllers to identify planes automatically, greatly improving air security.
The uniform coat is in wonderful condition and is offered without any extensive damage or moth nips. The ribbons are the Purple Heart (1 OLC), Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal which features 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and the EAME which has two bronze star devices and arrowhead present. The left shoulder features what appears to be another British made insignia, a felt embroidered SSI for the 8th Army Air Force.
Both sleeves have a chevron indicating the rank of Sergeant. The interior is marked with multiple laundry numbers, making for a wonderful research opportunity.
A lovely example that comes more than ready for further research and display.
